Armistead “Bill” Gilliam’s career has focused on complex litigation cases where he has served as lead counsel in: corporate takeovers, class actions, securities, antitrust, environmental and white collar criminal cases. As a highly regarded seminar speaker on litigation practice and negotiation skills, Carpenter Hazlewood is honored to have Bill on our team.
Bill was a Member of the Board of Commissioner on Grievance and Discipline in Ohio early in his career and is a Life Member of the 6th Circuit Judicial Conference. He served as Chair of the Board of Trustees at Wright State University and was an Adjunct Professor at the University Of Dayton Law School, where he taught Complex Litigation and Negotiation & Mediation classes. He has used his skills as a federally appointed mediator in Ohio federal and state court cases and served as the Chair of the Federal Bar Examination Committee in Ohio.
Bill has 5 children and 8 grandchildren and is a former Marine! Bill stays active golfing when we don’t keep him busy practicing law. Bill has competed in amateur golf tournaments in the US and Scotland.
